App Review: Monkey Preschool Lunchbox
Monkey Preschool Lunchbox is FANTASTIC! It breezed past my smell test pretty easily, but really knocked it out of the park with my near-3 year-old! Why does my son, Zander, keep asking for my phone when he normally ignores kids apps? Let’s dive into THUP Games‘ winning formula…
Step 1: Make it pretty. This app features really fun graphics with a rockin’ animated monkey that encourages your child with sounds and flips. This app goes to show that to make a stellar app you need stellar illustrations.
Step 2: Make it fun and challenging. The app features several games, including counting, matching cards, choosing objects based on color, letters etc, and even some drag and drop puzzles.
Step 3: Keep up the momentum. The diversity of the activities keeps the app moving, which is important with really young kids. And further, after passing 3-4 challenges, kids are allowed to choose a sticker and put it on their sticker board. This is key. Kids love stickers. Zander kept trying to sneak two stickers onto his board, and wanted “all of them” each and every time he earned one. Rewards give kids a reason to move forward, which is something most apps lack.
I could go on but Zander is grabbing at my phone and I’d rather not let him disappear into his room with it unsupervised…This app is a solid A/A+. I just don’t have a word strong enough to describe what a bargain this app is for $.99. THUP Games has shown with this app that they’re in it to win it.
